The Open Water Diver Course is your gateway into scuba diving — the certification that opens up reefs, wrecks, and dive sites all over the world. If you've dreamed of swimming with turtles and exploring coral gardens, this is where it begins. No previous experience is required; our instructors take you from your very first breath underwater to a fully certified diver.
Learn at Your Own Pace
The course usually runs over three days, with plenty of flexibility if you'd rather take it slower. At Odysseic Divers we keep groups small and never rush the learning — every student gets the attention they need to feel genuinely comfortable in the water.
The course has three parts:
1. Knowledge Development
Before you get wet, you'll work through digital learning materials that cover the essentials:
- How your equipment works
- Underwater communication
- Dive planning and safety
- Understanding the marine environment
You study online at your own pace, before or during your stay on Gili Trawangan.
2. Confined Water Skills
Next you'll practise the core scuba skills in calm, shallow water, where there's time and space to build confidence one step at a time before heading into the open ocean.
3. Open Water Dives
The best part: four dives at the beautiful sites around the Gili Islands. The warm, clear water and gentle conditions make this one of the best places in Indonesia to learn. Along the way you might meet:
- Green and hawksbill turtles
- Colourful reef fish and coral gardens
- Moray eels and reef sharks
- Macro life hiding in the reef
